Selecting a GreenPower product ensures you are purchasing energy from approved renewable energy generation sources. Depending on the plan you choose you are helping to support specific types of renewable energy generation.
The percentage of GreenPower you choose is audited independently to ensure the quality in the energy you are buying and the quantity bought on your behalf. It’s important to choose accredited GreenPower to support new renewable sources of electricity. Other “renewable energy” may be sourced from pre-1997 structures that will continue to operate irrespective of new green customer demand.
Accredited GreenPower retailers are audited to ensure their new renewable energy purchases meet what level of energy you have used and that they haven’t counted their new customers purchases towards their Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET). This means that all electricity you use in a 100% GreenPower plan is over what is compulsory for retailers to include in a standard plan.
